Great british Menu – Michael Caines MBE Prepares a 'Prime Time' Menu Exclusive to Gidleigh Park Guests
Everyone has watched a chef on TV create a mouth-watering masterpiece and wished they could try it. Now, Gidleigh Park Devon, is giving guests the opportunity to try first hand, the full Michelin starred menu that Executive Chef, Michael Caines MBE, is to create as he competes in the second series of BBC2's Great British Menu.
The Great British Menu sees 14 of the country's top chefs competing for the chance to create a four-course banquet for the British ambassador to France. In the regional heats, Michael, who will be featuring throughout the second week of May, will be up against another chef from the South West, using the best local ingredients to create a starter, fish course, meat course and dessert that epitomise the best of the region.
Each day one of the two chefs will be judged on their recipe and at the end of each week one of their menus will go through to the national competition phase, vying for a place on the Great British Menu 2007. At the end of a glorious seven-week culinary tour around the country, the nation will vote on the dishes they want to see thrash it out in the final.
Although Michael's menu remains a closely guarded secret in the run up to the airing of the show, with the wonderful range of local suppliers in the South West and his incredible flair in the kitchen, it promises to be a truly original and brilliant creation.
