Guided Nature Walks and Lunch

Enjoy a guided walk through the estate and learn to identify different species and understand more about the natural environment that surrounds us. These promise to be fascinating mornings spent exploring the 107 acre Gidleigh Park estate, followed by a two Michelin star luncheon especially created for the event.

Arrive for 9.30am to meet Phil Page, who has worked in landscape and nature conservation since 1974 and was the NCC/English Nature Site Manager on Dartmoor for over twenty years.

Spring Birds - Tuesday 27 April

Many migrant birds arrive in the spring to spend the summer months on Dartmoor. On your guided walk Phil will help you to identify different species, their calls and learn about their summer habitats.

Wild Flowers in Spring - Tuesday 11 May  Fully booked

The ancient Dartmoor woodlands are ablaze with wild flowers in the spring. Phil will walk you through our grounds and talk to you about the folklore surrounding some of our native species. Some of our native plants have medicinal uses and others are used as ingredients in old recipe books.

Summer Flowers - Tuesday 6 July

Dartmoor is a riot of colours in the summer months. Whilst exploring our water gardens and woodland walks you may find fragrant wild lavender and the vibrant flowers on the hollyhock.

Fungi Foray - Tuesday 28 September, Tuesday 5 and Tuesday 19 October
Both October forays are now fully booked

Abundant worldwide, most fungi are inconspicuous because of their small size. Enjoy learning how to identify some fo the more common edible fungi and how to distinguish these from poisonous species.

Each guided walk is £69 per person to include apéritifs and canapés, a two course Michelin star lunch with a glass of wine, followed by coffee and petit fours.
